ABOUT GWEN
Gwen was born and raised in Saskatchewan. After moving to Halifax, Nova Scotia, in the 1980's, she attended an evening class at Nova Scotia College of Art & Design to learn "Painting on Silk." The bright colours of the dyes and the shimmer of the silk drew Gwen to this form of craft. From that point on, Gwen was "hooked"!
Over the years Gwen participated in juried craft markets in Nova Scotia, and in Saskatchewan, beginning in the 1990's. Her work was featured in the Wascana Centre Authority Gift Shop in Regina, SK from 1992 until its closure in the spring of 2006. Traditions Handcraft Gallery, Cumberland Gallery at the Legislature, and the Royal Saskatchewan Museum shop are currently Gwen's outlets. Her Scarves, Pillows, and Art Cards are also available at Handmade House on Broadway Ave., Saskatoon. The Mendel Art Gallery gift shop, Saskatoon, also carries her scarves.
In 1995, Gwen obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Regina. At present, she is a full time artisan/artist.
Gwen's latest venture is her Art Cards which include a series of Saskatchewan Wild Flowers, a series from silk paintings, and an Orchid series.
